Dr. Jim was born in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in Birmingham,Alabama. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Montevallo. Dr. Porter's graduate work was at the University of Alabama in the Birmingham School of Dentistry. In order to stay on top of the latest technical advancements in dentistry, Dr. Porter frequently attends workshops and seminars to ensure that his patients always have access to the new technology available today. Dr. Porter is a graduate of The Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. In 2010, Dr. Porter completed "MAXI COURSE" a 9 month dental implant course sponsored by the Medical College of Georgia. He then successfully completed the written exam to become eligible to complete the associate fellowship .
